Extended Access Appointments
This Practice operates as a Primary Care Network of GP Practices, working together to offer patients “extended access” to pre-bookable appointments in the evenings and at the weekends. This is to ensure that patients can access GPs, nurses and other qualified healthcare professionals for routine care at a time that may be more convenient for them.
The pre-bookable appointments will be available as follows:
- Monday & Wednesday evenings between 6.30pm and 8.00pm
- Saturdays (at Muxton Surgery) between 9.00am and 5.00pm
To make an appointment, contact the surgery in the same way you would for a routine appointment.
A wide range of appointments are available for routine face-to-face or telephone calls with a GP or with one of our Primary Care Paramedics or Clinical Pharmacists. We are extending the variety of services offered all the time.
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Chaperones
You may request a suitably trained chaperone for any procedure, test or examination.
Friends and family are not permitted to act as chaperones.
Please note – both male and female clinical team members work within the practice, if you have a preference, please ensure you discuss this when you book your appointment.
Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after 10:30am as possible.
Who are Healthcare Professionals?
We have a variety of different qualified healthcare professionals working at our surgery as part of the Primary Care Network (PCN). There are pharmacists, paramedics, social prescribers, mental health practitioners and more!
It is not always necessary to see a GP, and there can sometimes be long waits for a GP appointment. Our effective team of Healthcare Professionals are here to help give patients advice and reassurance. The GP’s have designed a signposting protocol which our reception team use. This helps to ensure that patients are given appropriate appointments and it frees up GP appointments.
