FAIR USE POLICY

Fair Use Policy
As part of our commitment to providing high-quality care to all patients, Donnington Medical Practice has implemented a Fair Use Policy. This policy ensures that our services are used responsibly and equitably, allowing fair access for all patients.
We understand that patients may have varying health needs and that some may require more frequent support. However, in order to maintain the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of our services, we must address situations where usage becomes excessive or inappropriate.
We monitor the frequency and nature of consultations, including online consultations, telephone appointments, and in-person visits. Examples of overuse or inappropriate use include, but are not limited to:
- Repeated online consultations for the same issue without clinical need
- Booking multiple appointments unnecessarily or without attending
- Using GP appointments for non-medical or administrative matters
- Demanding urgent appointments for non-urgent issues
- Abusive or disrespectful behaviour towards staff
Such behaviours can place undue pressure on the service and reduce access for other patients in need of medical care.
Where we identify a pattern of overuse or inappropriate use of our services, we will take the following steps:
- Initial Warning – We may contact you to discuss your use of the service and offer support or guidance where appropriate.
- Monitoring Period – Your usage may be monitored over a defined period.
- Final Warning – Continued misuse may result in a written warning outlining the risk of removal.
- Removal from Patient List – In cases of persistent or severe misuse, and following due process, the practice reserves the right to remove a patient from our list in accordance with NHS regulations.
Our aim is not to discourage patients from seeking medical help when needed, but to ensure that services remain fair and accessible to everyone. If you have ongoing health concerns or require more tailored support, we encourage you to speak with your GP, who can help coordinate appropriate care.
This policy is designed to support safe, respectful, and equitable use of NHS resources. Thank you for your cooperation.
